Another peek into another painting I am creating for this next body of work. A Mother’s Dream, is very personal, and may give you a clue into what this body of work is about. Again, I will give the deeper details later, but for now I am only sharing with you the visual journey.

Falling feathers of dreams…is another piece that I have truly have enjoyed creating…not sure if it is done. However, like my last post I will be sharing the personal meanings behind this body of work soon with you. But until then I am sharing with you the visual process.

In the middle of an amazing journey….I am loving the process of creating, Child and Feathers, more details of what it all means to me will be shared with you later; however, I attached pictures of my process. Hope you enjoy this painting as much as I do!

I know today inside the studio was therapeutic. I just found out that we were not selected for baby number two. I got my hands dirty and continued working on the piece I started yesterday. I am truly enjoying the direction it is heading. I included a photo of my mother and placed it on a circle that can turn. I also took the little drawing of a baby from my alter and placed her into the painting as well. Words can’t express the excitement that fills my body, as our dream gets closer. The first two were not meant to be. I trust that the universe will grant us our baby soon. Just a little hard on the heart…

I worked inside the studio for the first time this year! I am playing around with the theme of “Nesting”. If you have been fallowing my process, my recent work has been of feathers. I have been asking myself for some time what exactly is the deeper meaning of the feathers, and why do I keep painting them? Well today I realized that this body of work is about becoming a mom. For the last year I have been allowing my body and mind to embrace the idea of me becoming a parent for life. I know and feel that this body of work is about this amazing journey I am on.
It felt great to get my hands dirty and transform found objects into something amazing down the line. What you see is work in process. Nothing is done. My studio is becoming more and more comfortable. I moved my furniture around to create more wall space. My work is also become sculptural. I love constantly re-inventing myself visually as an artist.
I look forward to the transformation of these pieces!

As most of you know, I usually sell at galleries, Open Studios, Esty, and at Fairs. However, one of my New Year resolutions this year is to branch out and get my work into local boutiques. I started this challenge by walking into a little store located in the Dimond District where I live! Bells And Whistles, is the name of this magical store. It is filled from floor to steeling with art and crafts! I loved it! The owner was supper nice and agreed to take four of my paintings! It was a great learning experience and I feel so blessed to be among her collection of local artist! If you have some shopping to do, please come and finish your shopping at Bells And Whistles! I promise you will walk out with something magical and fun.

Recent Work Inside The Studio…

My work recently has been inspired by the objects I have on my alter. A collection of feathers, a bird nest, sage, shells, and rocks. All sacred objects from nature. My process thus far, contains photocopies of my feathers, which I have cut out and collaged onto canvas, flat and round wood. The feathers are talking to me. Today I cut out feathers from old books, magazines, and found paper. I used the cutouts as stencils and sprayed them onto raw canvas. I ripped the canvas into squares and rectangles. I worked on three different projects today. This process is good for me, because I tend to put all my energy into one piece and then I over do it. I don’t know if the Indian head will remain…I might go back to just the raw canvas and the feathers. Not sure how I feel about it. However, the Indian came to me threw the prayers of the feathers. Who, knows maybe my ancestors art communicating with me…
What do you think, so far?
