The Three Mazu Angel Meditation Cards Of The Day Are:
Patience, Commitment, and Trust.
I am too tired to write, but the process has been amazing. Tomorrow I will begin the faces. I have found myself learning about patience, commitment and trust during this entire process. The cards are speaking loudly.

I believe “art” is living proof of growth. A work of art is a result, a progress in development. The product is not an end in itself, but a map of a course taken and the progress made. A work of art is never finished…it promises more, and from it projections can be made.
When I look at a painting the first thing I do is try to read the energy of the brush strokes. The power of the brush stroke is so important. There is a certain kind of brush stroke that can be both bold and bad. There are shy and halting brush stokes. Strokes that is both loud and brave. Sometimes they bump into and spoil something else, or they may just wander about, or fade into doubtfulness. There are brush strokes that bring us back to paint. I love it when my eyes dance with Mark Rothko brush strokes! His brush strokes inspire a sense of vigor, direction, speed, fullness and all the varying sensations I long to create in my work. Mark Rothko paintings contain brush strokes that speak! Strokes that counts whether you want them to or not! Strokes that are meaningful and empty. Strokes that cover the canvas and it tell its tale!
I am hoping that my brushwork that I am applying onto the Mazu Mural Project tells a story! I hope they bring people into the restaurant wanting more. My hope is that the mural will inspire and captivate many people, and brings in good energy.

The Three Mazu Angel Meditation Cards Of The Day Are:
Presence, Power. and Release.
Today I worked alone. There was nobody around. The Mural is starting to have its own powerful presence. I am so honored to do this project. However, today I felt so much love for the owner. I have known her since I was nineteen. We went to City Collage in San Francisco together. We go back! Anyway this mural is about her and her family. The center goddess on the wall will be her mother. Her mother passed away a few years ago and while I was painting the mural today, I decided I would paint her mother. I know she would be so proud of her.
When the owner came by, I ask her if she would not mind giving me a photo of her mom. She looked at me funny, then I explained to her why and she released what appeared to be a big breath and said she would really like to have her mom on the wall. I could tell that it meant allot to her.
Again I truly feel this project is bringing so much into my life. I thank my lucky stars every day!

The Three Mazu Angel Meditation Cards Of The Day Are:
Awakening, Compassion and Expectancy.
The first word, awakening speaks loudly to me out of the three. The process of creating a mural has open my mind. I feel very awake!
I jolted out of bed early this morning and quickly put on my paint suit and drove to San Francisco with a very positive attitude. The challenge of the day was the circle around the kitchen door. Because one of the walls curves, the measurements became tricky. However, an amazing woman who is helping me out spent many hours getting it right! Thank you goddess! I accomplished my goal today which was drawing out the main subjects onto the wall. I decided to add a Cherie tree. The birds are fantastic! The Mazu Goddesses are up and ready to be worked on. Tomorrow I will be painting the birds and the circle a little more. I am feeling very happy in my life. I love when I am able to be creative in the community!

The Drive Home
The first day working on the Mazu Mural Project was a success. There were some adjustments with the framing of the wall that needed to be done before I could paint, but other than that everything fell into place. The Original color that we picked was a little lighter than what we ended up getting; however, it matched the logo of the restaurant, which are bright colors. I just trusted the process and it turned out for the better in the long run.
Tomorrow I will begin the tracing of the images and possibly the process of the painting/mural.
The drive over the bridge was the worst part. A commute that should only take me thirty minutes ended being an hour. It was a good opportunity to reflect over how much work I have been creating recently. I have been allowing change to inter into my life and into my art. And just when I said that, I saw a big sign with the word “Change” and it felt like the unnerves was listening to my thoughts. It was an awesome moment! Today was a great day. I am tired and full of green paint. What a lucky life I lead!

The Meditation Angel Cards Of The Day Are:
Openness, Understanding and Expansiveness.
My Angle Cards spoke very clear to me today.
I thought about the Mazu Project while I picked the three words of the day.
The first card I picked was Openness, which is exactly how I feel walking into this project. I am open to whatever the Mural has to teach me. The second word I picked was Understanding. I feel this means that I need to be sympathetic and tolerant with myself in terms of the amount of time I have to complete this Mural. I also must be sensitive to the emotions that may arise. The last card I picked was Expansiveness, which is exactly what this Mural is. The Mazu Mural Project is the widest painting I have ever done! So the goal today my friends, is to be open and understanding on this expansive journey.

A good friend of mine is opening a restaurant in San Francisco, California and is commissioning me to paint a mural for her soon to be opened Mazu Restaurant!
I visited the space just before I left for Mexico and was immediately inspired by the space and length of the wall I would be working on. The wall on the left is 10ftX7ft and the wall on the right is 9ft X 8ft! Which means that the Mural will be about 19ft wide!
Below is a sketch of what I plan to do with the wall. I plan on incorporating Mazu goddesses, cranes and bamboo. I am trying to create an urban/asian style Mural. The circle around the door is a replica of an iterance at the actual Mazu Temple. I am excited about this project. I plan to be making a video about the evolution as well.
The process begins tomorrow and I will be posting daily blogs about the internal and external process of creating this mural.

Opened my heart,
to a land of green.
Where monkeys can swing freely,
and birds can sing proudly.
Opened my heart,
to a land of green.
A place where funky lizards dance moonwalks on sunny paths,
and wild snakes play hide and seek,
while toads jump gracefully.
Opened my heart,
to a land of green,
where the people live richly with less and smile with glee.
Opened my heart to a land of green,
where the air smells like sweet mangos,
and my heart was set free…
